Sustainability

Since 1897, our Company has considered both environmental and social sustainability to be one of our many responsibilities as a good corporate citizen, and sustainability is recognized as a strategic focus of the Company.

Our efforts on environmental sustainability include establishing company-wide sustainability strategies. The Company has implemented and managed a variety of programs, including the utilization of renewable energy technology, improved waste water management, increased usage of sustainable raw materials, and reuse of resources rather than consuming new ones.

Smucker also strongly believes in social sustainability and has long track record of promoting initiatives and programs that support and enhance the quality of life in the communities in which we operate. Education has always been one of the primary areas in which we focus our social sustainability resources. Our Heartland Education initiative in Ohio, which focuses on improving education through a partnership between community organizations, parents, schools and local businesses, has played a leading role. In addition, Smucker and its employees have long supported organizations such as United Way and Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

These are just some of the many ways our company contributes to the environmental and social well-being of the communities in which we live and work. We remain committed to sustainability and our role as a good corporate citizen.
