Try these fun ideas with your child. They're great ways to spend quality time together, while having fun!
Nature Hunt
Make of list of plants and birds that can easily be found in your area. Take a picture of the items as you find them. A local park is a great place to search, but a backyard can be just as fun.
Build a Bird Feeder
Building a bird feeder is a great activity to do with your kids over a few days. You can spend the first day measuring and cutting the wood; the second day assembling and painting; and the last day, installing and filling it!
Play Dress Up
Get out the old clothes in the attic and have some fun! Try mixing and matching outfits and creating fun characters.
Disc Golf
This game is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. Simply pick out a target in the distance and try to hit it with your plastic disc in the fewest number of throws. The lowest number wins the hole!
Make Sock Puppets
All it takes is a pair of old socks, some thread, a few buttons and a lot of imagination (mom or dad can handle the sewing). When you're done, put on a play for the rest of the family.
Grow a Garden
Plant a vegetable or flower garden in your yard with your kid. They'll learn how to care for and nurture things for a great end result!
Paint Together
Setup an easel in the backyard and grab the water colors. You can paint a masterpiece together!
Road Trip
A short road trip to a park or the beach is a great way to spend quality time with your kids. Pack a PB&J picnic and you're good to go!
Help Out
Does the local park need some volunteers? You and your kid can help pick up litter or paint the playground. It's a great way to do some good, while spending quality time together!
Create a Storybook
Take some construction paper, markers and a hole punch and create a storybook together! Just come up with a simple story and draw pictures to go with it. When you've finished, bind it together with some colorful yarn.
